A few weeks ago, I got invited to play with a professional band that is centered around the Fishers area. Last Thursday I played for the Nickel Plate Jazz Orchestra and got to play with Jamey Aebersold. As the authority of jazz (specifically improvisation) education, Jamey Aebersold came to my high school and gave clinics, taught, and played both with the NPJO and his own quartet for the students and staff here in Fishers. It was a great night and inspired both myself and so many of my peers to continue our passion for music and the jazz idiom. Its about time I start woodshedding some of the licks in Jamey’s ii-V book. I’ll leave a link to Jamey’s primary commerce page, where everything from Jamey’s curriculum to Omni-Books and more are sold.
Big thanks go out to the Fishers Music Works organization for putting the entire event together. Here’s a link to their website/calendar for future events.
